Where it all began...
I am the second daughter of a pretty amazing woman. She has taught me most of what I know about cooking, family, working and loving people...for her I am eternally greateful! I could not have asked for a better mom, teacher and friend. So, with that said, I did not descover my LOVE and passion for food and cooking until I met my incredibly sexy, encouraging and adventurous husband. He has a culturally diverse background and very adventurous tastebuds, and he is always stretching me and encouraging me to try new culinary experiences.
In December 2010 we had a son and decided that I would stay home and be a mom!! I was so excited because it was something that I always wanted, but never really knew that I wanted. It was a HUGE God blessing that we were able to make that decision. Being his mom is by far the best thing I have ever done. He does new things everyday and teaches me so much about myself that I never really knew.
Now that I have more time on my hands and two guys in my life that love me and encourage me to follow my dreams (after much prayer and seeking THE LORD) I have decided to do what I love to do! COOK! So, people have asked where I got the name...
I decided I wanted to name my business something that conveyed both my love of healthy cooking and my relationship with Jesus. I truly would not be where I am without HIM! The company is called Green Olive Kitchen and I decided on that name after reading the scripture from Psalms 52:8 "But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever." I felt that this scripture really shows how I feel about all that I want this company to be about. Having my roots firmly in the Lord and trusting in his perfect and unfailing love! AMEN! (sorry...I just had church)
And with that explained...My business is simple! Good food for Busy People! I prepare food that is ready to cook at home in your oven, or frozen and saved for a later date. I will post the week's menu here on Monday of each week and take orders by Thursday. I will then make deliveries the following week on Monday. So, basically the food you order this week you will eat next week.
As of now all of the portions are for families (4-6 people) or really it would feed 2 people with lunch leftovers easily. I am also not currently set up to take credit cards, but hope to be able to do that soon. (so i am currently only able to take orders in the greater Nashville area... I can take payment either in cash or check form when orders are placed (I can pick it up).
All of my entrees are in the $25-$40 range depending on cost and time needed to prepare the dish. This comes to approximately $4-$6 per serving!! That is cheaper than McDonald's! i'm not knockin' the Double arches, but I don't think anyone wants to eat from the drive through all the time :)
I hope that answers many questions for people who have asked... "so what are you doing now?"
